Welcome to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering!

Dear students of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering,

welcome (back) to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. You can find important information about the start of the semester (winter semester 2024/25) and further information on the Start of Studies / Change of Studies page.

The team from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering wishes you a good start into the semester!

Here you will find reports of the excursions planned and carried out at the department! In addition to day trips to various destinations in the local area, we also regularly offer multi-day excursions in and outside of Germany.

We would be delighted to welcome you here at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

You can start one of our Bachelor's degree programs directly. We also offer dual study programs in both civil and environmental engineering.

For students who have already started studying at another college or university, there is of course also the option of switching to our Bachelor's degree programs.

After completing your Bachelor's degree (standard period of study 7 semesters), you have several options.

  • You go straight into practice.
  • You complete your degree with a Master of Engineering (standard period of study 3 semesters) either directly or after a previous practical phase.

Bachelor graduates who have studied

  • Environmental engineering or
  • Civil engineering with one of the following specializations:
    • Structural engineering
    • Construction economics
    • Water and environmental technology or
    • Transport infrastructure

can then complete the respective Master's degree in 3-4 semesters at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (FBBU). The duration depends on the ECTS achieved in the Bachelor's degree.

As this is a consecutive degree program, Master's students must have a total of 300 ECTS (credit points) from the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs. As a rule, this means 3 semesters if you have completed a 7-semester Bachelor's degree or 4 semesters if your Bachelor's degree had a standard period of study of 6 semesters.
